Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Vancouver
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses mental health conditions which lower a person’s quality of life, particularly depression and anxiety. CBT powerfully teaches people that, although they cannot always control their surroundings or what happens to them, they can take control of their thoughts and actions in order to feel differently and have a better outlook on life and themselves.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
CBT is also known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It teaches us how to challenge our thinking patterns in order to change and improve our mood, our level of anxiety, our body sensations (like butterflies in our stomach), and we what do in response to negative emotions.
CBT involves analysis of everyday situations and homework to be most effective. With a therapist's help and support, a client can often gain significant insight into themselves and improve their quality of life by decreasing their everyday suffering in simple ways.
CBT is a gold-standard, evidence-based best practice for depression and anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Vancouver can be helpful for:
-
generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
-
depression and mood disorders
-
panic disorder
-
phobias
-
obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
-
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
CBT Approach
The purpose of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is to help you change your thoughts and behaviours to improve the way you feel. Ultimately, the goal is to help you resolve your personal difficulties, and learn to manage these issues more effectively.
I can help you decide if CBT is a good fit for your situation and needs. Note that a CBT approach can also be used to treat trauma. It is called Cognitive Processing Therapy and described here.
